Town Council Meetings Televised and Recorded

Televised Smithfield Meetings

Due to a shortage of volunteers we are changing the day of the week of the first scheduled playback for the Town Council meetings from the Saturday following the Tuesday meeting to the 2nd Thursday following the meeting.

Town Council meetings are broadcast "gavel to gavel" on Cox Channel 17 and Verizon Channel 39.

This information is also posted on the PEG Access Community Bulletin Board.

The meetings will be shown two times per week for one month on Thursdays 4-7pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm .

At the end of the month the recordings will be available at the North Providence Union Free Library and in the Town Clerk's office.

The Town Council for the Town of North Providence consists of seven members. There are two elected from each of the three districts in the town, and one Council -at-Large.

The Town Council is the Legislative Body of the town and meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Some of the issues that the Town Council hears are such things as Liquor and Victualling Licensing, Board and Commission Appointments, Zone Changes, Claims against the Town as well as enacting, amending and repealing Ordinances or Resolutions necessary and proper for the operation of the Town of North Providence. Any person may petition to speak before the Town Council at an Open Meeting as long as their request is in writing and is in the Office of the Town Clerk by one week prior to the regular monthly meeting.
